Chelsea McDonagh: Fighting for Traveller Education

An Irish Traveller with a BA in Sports and an MA in Education, Chelsea McDonagh is a researcher with The Young Foundation and the co-founder of RomBelong, a programme aimed at increasing progression to Higher Education among the GRT community.

Those are the basic facts but she’s also an academic, a creative, a sportswoman, a loving granddaughter, daughter and aunt, a voracious reader, an intellectual powerhouse and one of the most incredible people we’ve had the privilege to interview.

She talks politics, family, coming out, the pandemic, as well as prejudice against Irish Travellers, both in this country and in Ireland.

As if that wasn’t enough, artist and designer, the fabulous Warren Reilly, places his Auntie Tish on The Plastic Pedestal
